2024 Whitney Tennessee
Zinfandel
Alexander Valley
Whitney Tennessee Vineyard is a small, pre-Prohibition site in Alexander Valley, where old, head-trained vines have grown for more than a century. Turley purchased the vineyard in 2009 and converted the property to organic farming, preserving its historic mixed planting while cultivating the land without irrigation. Named for Whitney Tennessee, one of Larry Turley’s four daughters, it is a vineyard with a particularly personal place in our family.
Zinfandel forms the heart of the site, with small amounts of Petite Syrah and Carignane interplanted throughout in the traditional field-blend style of California’s historic vineyards. Situated in loam and varied gravel soils, these old vines produce a wine of generous fruit, savory spice, and remarkable freshness. Certified organic, dry-farmed, and deeply expressive of its warm northern Sonoma landscape, Whitney Tennessee carries the vitality and quiet complexity that can only come with age.
