Nestled in an idyllic, warm yet breezy pocket on the west side of St. Helena, this remarkable property has remained in the same family since 1876. Since our inaugural 1993 vintage, we have been privileged to work alongside the Hayne family, helping steward and preserve these head-trained, dry-farmed vines, planted in 1902 and 1903. More than a century after they were planted, these vines continue to yield one of Napa Valley's most historic and revered wines—the true archetype of Zinfandel. Elegant and commanding, the 2024 exhibits the quiet strength of a thoroughbred: poised, focused, and seemingly effortless. Pure red fruit and rose petal rise from the glass with remarkable clarity, followed by sand, gravel, and a delicate touch of milk chocolate on the finish. Its tannins are smooth and polished, while the wine's many dimensions remain perfectly aligned. Nothing is embellished; every detail feels precise, complete, and beautifully presented.
