Old vine Cabernet Sauvignon is extremely rare; old vine, dry-farmed, high elevation Cabernet Sauvignon is dang near nonexistent. Planted at 1800 feet up Moon Mountain in Sonoma in the mid-1960’s, the head-trained Montecillo vines are 60 years old, and the wine they produce is downright mystical. 

The 2014 Montecillo invites you in with a fragrant nose of red berries, spice cake, and India ink, followed by layers of red, blue, & black fruits and savory earth on the palate. Firm, well-formed mountain tannins are balanced by a wonderful freshness and velvety texture, complete with a noble, lengthy finish. Easily enjoyed now with a quick decant or for the next decade to come.
