2024 vintage - fall release

The parched scents

While gathered around the table tasting through the Fall release wines, we found ourselves returning to a phrase from Giuseppe Tomasi di Lampedusa’s The Leopard: “the parched scents.”

It speaks to the particular perfume of a landscape at the end of a long, dry season—the fragrance of warm stone, dusty bramble, sun-cured herbs, wildflowers, ripe fruit, and earth waiting for rain. These are not fleeting aromas, but concentrated ones: the landscape drawn into sharper focus by heat and time.

That same expressive character runs through this collection of wines. Violets rise from mountain shale. Blackberries stain the hands. Sage and thyme drift across windswept ridges, while graphite, iron, chalk, and crushed granite recall the ground beneath the vines. The wines carry both abundance and restraint: fruit ripened fully beneath the California sun, held in balance by fresh acidity and the quiet strength of old vineyards.

Each wine is unmistakably shaped by its place, from the volcanic slopes of Sonoma and Napa to the calcareous hills of Paso Robles and the iron-rich soils of Lodi. Together, they capture the season at its most evocative: sun-warmed, savory, fragrant, and alive with the enduring character of the land.

As you explore the release, we invite you to follow those scents from one landscape to the next. Return to a vineyard you know. Make room for one you have yet to discover. Taste the many ways Zinfandel and Petite Syrah carry the character of California’s mountains, valleys, ancient soils, and long, sun-drenched seasons.

These are wines to enjoy, revisit, and gather around. We hope they find their way from our table to yours.

2024 THe WHite COat
white Wine

California

A luminous blend of Grenache Blanc, Vermentino, Roussanne, and a touch of Viognier from four organically farmed estate-owned vineyards. Lemon verbena, white peach, Granny Smith apple, honeysuckle, and yellow flowers lead into the sun-warmed sweetness of Crenshaw melon. Generous and medium-bodied, yet lifted by vivid acidity, the wine finishes bright and refreshing, balancing coastal freshness with the warmth and perfume of the mountains.

2024 Brandlin Ranch
Zinfandel

Napa Valley

Grown for 100 years where decomposed granite and shale meet the open air of Mount Veeder, the Brandlin Ranch Zinfandel carries an unmistakable sense of sea, sky, and mountain. A true kaleidoscope of aromatics: fresh raspberry and candied orange unfold alongside crushed violets, chalk, walnut oil, and the scent of freshly oiled wood. Silky and open-knit, with beautifully integrated structure, it feels complete without ever feeling heavy—a graceful, endlessly inviting expression of the vineyard.

2024 Dogtown Vineyard
Zinfandel

Lodi

Dogtown Vineyard’s rolling terrain and iron-rich clay give the wine a darker, more muscular presence than many of its Lodi neighbors. Black cherry and dark berry fruit meet iron, dark chocolate, orange peel, star anise, and wild fennel. Dense and powerful without becoming unwieldy, it finishes with a vivid streak of grapefruit rind and citrus oil that brings energy and definition to its broad frame.

2024 Dusi Vineyard
Zinfandel

Paso Robles

There is a warm, sustaining quality to the Dusi Vineyard Zinfandel, reflecting both the generous Paso Robles sunshine and the vineyard’s traditional interplanting of Zinfandel, Cinsault, and Carignane. Black cherry pie, dark chocolate, and the savory aroma of a perfectly seared crust on steak fill the glass. Rich and expansive, with the flavor of fully ripened fruit gathered just before the birds arrive, Dusi is comforting, substantial, and immediately satisfying.

2024 Fredericks Vineyard
Zinfandel

Sonoma Valley

Planted in 1937, the Fredericks Vineyard Zinfandel carries the rugged character of its mountain setting with remarkable polish. Dark berry fruit is framed by volcanic earth, warm iron, walnut, and a subtle savory note begging to be opened alongside a dry-aged ribeye. Fine, integrated tannins create a texture somewhere between velour and tightly woven wool—soft to the touch yet
structured beneath the surface. Deeply grounded and quietly powerful, it feels
built for a long evening around the table.

2024 Hayne Vineyard
Zinfandel

Napa Valley

Elegant yet commanding, the 124-year-old Hayne Vineyard consistently produces wines with the quiet strength of a thoroughbred: poised, focused, and seemingly effortless. Pure red fruit and rose petal rise from the glass with remarkable clarity, followed by sand, gravel, and a delicate touch of milk chocolate on the finish. Its tannins are
smooth and polished, while the wine’s many dimensions remain perfectly aligned. Nothing is embellished; every detail feels precise, complete, and beautifully presented.

2024 Judge Bell Vineyard
Zinfandel

Amador County

Bright red berries meet crushed granite, mountain mint, and the sun-dried herbs of the Amador foothills. This 119-year-old vineyard’s short growing season gives the wine a vivid freshness, while its granitic soils bring a fine, mouthwatering texture. Round through the middle yet charged with electric energy, Judge Bell balances acidity and tannin with unusual ease. It is fragrant, lively, and exceptionally food-friendly—a wine that seems to awaken everything around it.

2024 Monte Rosso Vineyard
Zinfandel

Sonoma Valley

Planted in the 1893, Monte Rosso is a hillside Sonoma historic site. The wine is juicy and mouthwatering, yet its fruit retains a firm, satisfying bite—more like
eating perfectly ripened fruit directly from the tree than opening a jar of preserves. Satsuma plum, crisp red apple, and bright citrus mingle with cracked pepper, violets, and pencil graphite. Fresh, toothsome, and full of energy, Monte Rosso finishes with a vivid mineral crunch that captures the vineyard’s dramatic red volcanic soils.

2024 Old Vines
Zinfandel

California

A blend of our old vine sites, the 2024 is supple and immediately approachable. Calm and medium-toned before broadening generously across the palate. Raspberry, bright cherry, and dark red stone fruit emerge alongside damp loam, black tea, and lingering black walnut. Soft acidity and smooth tannins give it an easy rhythm, while its earthy Lodi influence adds depth beneath the fruit. Warm, familiar, and quietly complex; it invites another glass without demanding one.

2024 Rattlesnake Ridge
Zinfandel

Howell Mountain

Windswept and rugged, the wine speaks
unmistakably of Howell Mountain before it speaks of Zinfandel. Blackberry and dark plum are wrapped in black pepper, sage, thyme, and the savory aroma of lamb drippings over a hot grill. Its tannins feel like polished stones beneath a thin candy shell—firm at the center, yet smooth on contact. Feral, handsome, and composed, Rattlesnake carries both grit and refinement without an ounce of pretense.

2024 Ueberroth Vineyard
Zinfandel

Paso Robles

From 140-year-old vines perched atop calcareous shale at 1500’ elevation, the wine combines vibrant acidity with unexpected density and a rounded, generous finish. Tart damson plum meets chalk, Thai basil, violets, pink jasmine, and dried rose petals. Its structure is nearly seamless, allowing the sweet and savory aromatics to move freely across the palate. Ueberroth is formal without feeling stiff—precise, polished and quietly charismatic, with the ease of someone entirely comfortable in a well-cut suit.

2024 Zampatti Vineyard
Zinfandel

Sonoma County

The 111-year-old Zampatti Vineyard captures the season at its fullest: sun-warmed, abundant, and just wild enough around the edges. Ripe blackberry and black Santa Rosa plum arrive with the immediacy of warm summer fruit, their juices seemingly running down your hands. Dusty bramble and a fleeting touch of white pepper keep the wine grounded. The palate is broad, juicy, and deeply satisfying, yet beautifully balanced by fresh acidity.

2024 Hayne Vineyard
Petite Syrah

Napa Valley

Sicilian blood orange and dark fruit emerge through layers of India ink, walnut shell, graphite, violet, and nougat. Initially enclosed and powerful, the wine
gradually reveals a more delicate perfume beneath its formidable structure. A savory note of grilled portobello adds dimension, while polished tannins give the palate remarkable elegance. Beautiful even in its youth, Hayne Petite Syrah combines strength and grace in a wine built to evolve for decades.

2024 Library Vineyard
Petite Syrah

Napa Valley

A historic field blend planted in downtown Saint Helena between 1880 and 1920; the Library Vineyard is a true chameleon. White peach and dark fruit mingle with lifted floral aromatics, India ink, citrus, and the savory depth of toasted spice. Its broad, alluvial tannins recall the structure that made Napa Valley famous, while the vineyard’s many varieties bring continual movement and
surprise. Complex yet remarkably versatile, it is equally compelling on its own or alongside yakitori, ponzu, or miso-glazed fish.

95-97 points Vinous
